Episode 9
As the culmination of their training, the long-awaited “counter exam” draws near—where the students will finally serve sushi to real customers. In preparation, Minato (Hiromi Nagasaku) and her classmates pair up and take turns playing guest and chef, sharpening their skills through practice.
Ahead of the exam, Oedo (Kenichi Matsuyama) reminds them that sushi isn’t just about technique—it’s also about facing people head-on. Kurumi (First Summer Uika), moved by his words, asks, “Was there ever a customer who left a lasting impression on you?” Oedo thinks back to someone in particular, but keeps the details to himself.
Finally, the day of the counter exam arrives. The class gathers in a circle for one last pep talk before stepping into the challenge. With their own hopes and struggles in mind, they begin making sushi for real customers—when suddenly, an unexpected visitor shows up at the academy…
