Episode 2
On the verge of giving up as she compares herself to classmates seriously pursuing sushi careers, Minato (Hiromi Nagasaku) finds encouragement in Oedo’s (Kenichi Matsuyama) words and decides to stick with the academy.
One day, Kurumi (First Summer Uika), frustrated that they still aren’t allowed to make sushi, confronts Oedo head-on. He responds with a challenge: anyone who can express their individuality through a horse mackerel dish will earn the chance to move on to making nigiri.
While Kurumi throws herself into proving her strengths, Minato struggles to define her own “flavor.” But during a long-overdue reunion with her son Nagisa (Motoki Nakazawa), a simple conversation leads her back to the roots of her cooking.
Meanwhile, Oedo comes under pressure from the academy head, Yokota (Tsutomu Sekine), to pick up the pace and keep students from growing dissatisfied.
Before long, Yokota’s concerns prove well-founded—an incident shakes Oedo’s class.
