First Movement: His Destiny

5 years ago, conductor Shunpei Natsume (Hidetoshi Nishijima) stood in front of a cheering crowd at Vienna, the world capital of music. He had no idea a terrible thing had just happened to his daughter, Hibiki (Mana Ashida).

5 years later, autumn 2023. Shunpei has quit being a conductor and lived alone in Vienna. His family had left him. His wife, now living in Japan, Shiho (Yuriko Ishida) contacts him after five years of silence. She is going to France for her job as an artists and requests for him to look after the children in Japan.

Shunpei is back in Japan for the first time in 20 years, but Hibiki refuses to even look at him. On top of that, he completely lacks any skills outside of music and unable to do any housework. The father and his two children being their new, uncomfortable life.

The next morning, they are visited by Satoshi Furuya (Tetsuji Tamayama) from the Harumi City Hall Tourism Section. Furuya, being the leader of the citizen orchestra, Harumi Philharmonics, has come to ask Shunpei to conduct this orchestra in danger of being shuttered down. Shiho had promised behind Shunpei’s back to Furuya that Shunpei will conduct. However, Shunpei declines Furuya’s request.

Meanwhile, Hibiki who now works at the Hibiki City Hall, is in charge of Harumi Aozora Culture Hall where the Harumi Phil practice and perform. Daiki Mori (Hio Miyazawa) from Tourism and member of Harumi Phil asks Hibiki about Shunpei, but she doesn’t answer.

Shunpei is told about the tough situation Harumi Phil is currently in from Mayor Issei Shiraishi (Yasushi Fuchikami). On top of that, when visiting the Harumi Phil’s practice, he is told about something…
