{"id":23034,"date":"2026-08-09T19:00:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T02:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=23034"},"modified":"2026-08-09T00:24:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T07:24:56","slug":"2026-08-09","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2026-08-09\/","title":{"rendered":"August 9th 2026 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">August 8th 2026 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CryOyO2b15w\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>81st Annual Commemoration Service for A-Bomb Victims and Survivor<\/h2>\n<p>On Sunday, August 2, a memorial service for the victims of the atomic bombings was held at the Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin in Little Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial service began with Buddhist chants led by monks from Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin.\u2028Hibakusha, community leaders, and members of the public then offered incense, honoring the victims of the atomic bombing and praying for their souls.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial message from Kongobuji, the head temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism, was then read aloud, bringing the memorial service to a close.<\/p>\n<p>During the memorial ceremony, representatives offered candles lit from the Peace Flame, which was brought from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and has been preserved at Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin, in memory of the victims of the atomic bombing.<\/p>\n<p>Video messages from the mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were also shown.<\/p>\n<p>Junji Sarashina, a Hiroshima atomic bomb survivor who turns 97 this year, spoke about his experience at last year&#8217;s Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony and shared his own memories of the bombing.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial service is held annually to mark the atomic bombing anniversaries jointly by the American Society of Hiroshima-Nagasaki A-Bomb Survivors and Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Miyazaki Kenjinkai 50th anniversary<\/h2>\n<p>On July 11, the America Miyazaki Kenjinkai held a ceremony in Torrance to celebrate its 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The America Miyazaki Kenjinkai was founded in 1976 by people with ties to Miyazaki Prefecture. Today, its 35 members continue to engage in cultural and community service activities.<\/p>\n<p>About 220 people attended the milestone celebration, including members of the association, representatives of major Japanese American organizations, and a delegation from Miyazaki Prefecture.<\/p>\n<p>President George Mori reflected on the association&#8217;s 50-year history, thanked its predecessors, and pledged to carry its legacy on to the next generation.<\/p>\n<p>Miyazaki Deputy Governor Toshiro Hinokuma and other distinguished guests then delivered congratulatory remarks.<br \/>\nAssociation leaders and distinguished guests took part in a lively kagami biraki ceremony to celebrate the association&#8217;s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>A congratulatory message from the governor of Miyazaki Prefecture was also presented.<br \/>\nVice Governor Toshiro Hinokuma then presented certificates of appreciation and commemorative gifts to longtime supporters of the association.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration also featured traditional folk performances and dance, creating a warm and festive atmosphere throughout the event.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] August 8th 2026 O.A.
