{"id":22953,"date":"2026-07-12T20:00:23","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T03:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=22953"},"modified":"2026-07-12T01:58:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T08:58:14","slug":"2026-07-12","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2026-07-12\/","title":{"rendered":"July 12th 2026 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">July 12th 2026 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lPCslHSIPjw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Anime Expo 2026<\/h2>\n<p>The 35th Anime Expo was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center over four days from Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 5.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, Anime Expo is one of the largest Japanese anime conventions in North America.<br \/>\nThis year, anime fans from across the United States gathered once again.<\/p>\n<p>Cosplayers dressed as their favorite characters posed for photos and enjoyed meeting others portraying characters from the same series.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,000 exhibitors, retailers, artists, and companies filled the convention floor.<br \/>\nFans shopped for event exclusive merchandise and collector&#8217;s items while enjoying exhibits and attractions at booths throughout the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout Anime Expo, a wide variety of programs were held, including new anime announcements and panel discussions featuring special guests.<\/p>\n<p>World renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, known for his distinctive artistic style, premiered the teaser trailer for his new anime project, ZAN.<br \/>\nZAN is an ambitious project to create a fully hand drawn animated adaptation of an original science fiction fantasy story written and illustrated by Amano.<\/p>\n<p>Japan House Los Angeles invited manga artist Kazuo Maekawa, known for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, from Japan to lead a manga drawing workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The session drew a full house, with even the extra seats filled.<br \/>\nParticipants experienced a simple approach to creating manga characters that even beginners with little drawing experience could enjoy.<br \/>\nIn a relaxed atmosphere, they learned the fundamentals of developing a wide variety of characters.<\/p>\n<p>Maekawa continues to teach Japanese manga creation to international visitors to Japan and at events around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to anime, many companies related to Japanese pop culture, including gaming and food, also exhibited at Anime Expo.<\/p>\n<p>The Japan External Trade Organization, JETRO, once again presented the Geek Street pavilion.<br \/>\nThe pavilion featured six companies showcasing products related to gaming, traditional crafts, fashion, and music.<br \/>\nVisitors explored the booths and checked out new products and the latest content.<\/p>\n<p>TOMY Company, the toy manufacturer behind Beyblade, inspired by the traditional Japanese spinning top beigoma, and capsule toys known as gacha, showcased its fashion doll Licca at Anime Expo.<\/p>\n<p>Created in 1967, Licca has been loved in Japan for generations.<br \/>\nThis year, TOMY Company launched Licca in the North American market with a lineup that highlights Japanese culture, including dolls dressed in kimono and school uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>A food area featuring 39 Japanese food booths and food trucks was also set up at the event.<br \/>\nThe stage hosted performances including mini concerts by J Pop idol groups.<br \/>\nThrough anime as a gateway, participating companies introduced visitors to a wide range of Japanese pop culture and traditional culture.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for this year&#8217;s Anime Expo sold out.<br \/>\nMore than 400,000 attendees visited the event over the four days.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] July 12th 2026 O.A.
