{"id":21445,"date":"2025-01-12T20:00:06","date_gmt":"2025-01-13T04:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=21445"},"modified":"2025-01-10T18:12:47","modified_gmt":"2025-01-11T02:12:47","slug":"2025-01-12","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2025-01-12\/","title":{"rendered":"January 12th 2025 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"> January 12th 2025 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M-ht4fiFBXw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>#SupportSAKE Photo Campaign<\/h2>\n<p>A celebration offering the experience of a Japanese New Year took place on January 1st in Little Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California (JCCSC), &#8220;Oshogatsu in Little Tokyo&#8221; celebrated its 27th year.<br \/>\nAs a beloved annual New Year\u2019s tradition in Little Tokyo, the festivities drew large crowds to Weller Court and the Japanese Village Plaza.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony featured speeches by Haruo Takehana, President of the JCCSC, and Kenko Sone, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by a ceremonial sake barrel opening by community representatives.<br \/>\nTraditional lion dances and mochi tossing ceremonies were also held, wishing for happiness and prosperity in the new year.<\/p>\n<p>The stage showcased performances, including calligraphy by Beikoku Shodo Kenkyukai members, martial arts demonstrations such as aikido and kendo, a kimono contest, and traditional folk songs and dances, creating a lively atmosphere for the New Year.<\/p>\n<p>The venue also featured numerous booths offering a wide range of attractions. Visitors enjoyed traditional New Year treats like amazake and mochi, a mini Shinto shrine, as well as food stands selling items such as yakiudon and yakitori.<br \/>\nActivities for children were also very popular.<\/p>\n<p>The Koyasan Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles also welcomed many visitors for hatsumode, the first shrine visits of the year.<br \/>\nWorshippers drew omikuji fortune slip and purchased protective charms, praying for peace and well-being in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>With favorable weather on New Year&#8217;s Day, many people gathered in Little Tokyo to enjoy the start of the new year.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] January 12th 2025 O.A.
