{"id":20067,"date":"2023-03-26T20:00:26","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T03:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=20067"},"modified":"2023-03-26T23:45:06","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T06:45:06","slug":"2023-03-26","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2023-03-26\/","title":{"rendered":"March 26th 2023 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"> March 26th 2023 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QL952zoq1Gs\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Nikkei Professionals<\/h2>\n<p>A networking event held by the Southern California Intercollegiate Nikkei Council (INC) happened on February 25th at the JANM in Little Tokyo, connecting Japanese American students with professionals.<\/p>\n<p>INC is a coalition of collegiate Nikkei Student Unions and associations throughout universities in SoCal.<br \/>\nJapanese American student organizations from 12 different universities are joined as members.<\/p>\n<p>This is an annual event that INC holds and is called \u201cNikkei Professionals\u201d which gives students the opportunity to connect with professionals who are already active members of the workforce.<br \/>\nAbout 100 people participated this year.<\/p>\n<p>Students first had an icebreaker with each other.<\/p>\n<p>Followed by a panel discussion with 4 professionals working in marketing, social service, media, and design engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Panelists asked questions to students and gave advice on how to look for a job as they gave examples from their own past experience.<\/p>\n<p>Students were then divided into 4 groups.<br \/>\n1 group participated in a resume workshop.<br \/>\nStudents learned how to write their resumes from a marketing perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, other groups exchanged information with each other and talked to 25 volunteers who are all active in the workforce, and expanded their knowledge and network with different people.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>OCJAA New Officers Installations<\/h2>\n<p>Sunday, March 5th was the Orange County Japanese American Association 2023 New Officers Installations and Community Service Awards Banquet at Anaheim.<\/p>\n<p>OCJAA is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986. It mainly provides cultural, educational, and welfare services in Orange County.<\/p>\n<p>Yasuyuki Okazoe is taking over Kimiko Fujita, who was the president for 10 years.<br \/>\nThe banquet began with the new members taking their oaths.<\/p>\n<p>After lunch, current California State Assemblymember, Al Muratsuchi spoke as the keynote speaker.<br \/>\nMuratsuchi talked about the importance of associations like OCJAA for the Japanese American community to prosper in the US, and also the importance of young Japanese-Americans joining politics.<\/p>\n<p>Followed by the greetings of Japanese American organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Next, a Certificate of Appreciation were awarded to Mitsuwa Marketplace Costa Mesa Store Manager, Dwaine Yamasaki and United Airlines Key Account Manager, Toshiyuki Akamatsu for supporting OCJAA.<br \/>\nCommunity Service Awards were awarded to Red Shell Foods President, Hirohisa Watanabe and OCJAA New Senior Vice President, Kihei Otani.<\/p>\n<p>Distinguished Service Awards were awarded to OCJAA Former President Fujita and OCJAA Executive Senior Vice President, Hiroyuki Kawachi.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, raffles and a silent auction took place as a fundraiser, and the in-person event that happened for the first time in 3 years ended in great success.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] March 26th 2023 O.A.
