autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>OCJAA 2021 Senior Citizen Appreciation Day<\/h2>\n<p>An online event appreciating seniors over 80 years old \u201cSenior Citizen Appreciation Day\ufeff\u201d was held on October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>OCJAA holds this event and this year is the 35th time.<br \/>\nThis is an event that shows appreciation to those that built and developed the community we now have.<\/p>\n<p>Free bento boxes were given to those who are over 60 years old and submitted a request.<br \/>\nAbout 220 bentos were distributed in 3 different locations of OC.<\/p>\n<p>The event was streamed via Zoom at Yamaha Music Center in Irvine like last year due to the impacts of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-recorded materials were played.<br \/>\nConsul General Muto and representatives of Japanese organizations stated their greetings, followed by entertainments like songs and dances.<\/p>\n<p>19 people were awarded at the main ceremony, and a representative stated their appreciation.<\/p>\n<p>2 recipients for the Freshman Scholarship and 2 recipients for Nerio Scholarship Awards were also announced.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, OCJAA Honorary President, Akemi Miyake who turned 102 years old this year stated his greetings.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, a raffle was done for those that attended the Zoom event, and everyone socialized via online.<\/p>\n<p>President Kimiko Fujita received the Foreign Minister\u2019s Commendations back in August.<br \/>\nHer long years of hard work in cultural exchange and contribution to the Japanese American community was properly recognized.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Japanese Food Fair<\/h2>\n<p>October 18th and 19th was the \u201cJapanese Food Fair\u201d in DTLA.<\/p>\n<p>This event aims to introduce and spread Japanese food and ingredients to those in the industry.<br \/>\nIt also targets Asian and American restaurants in general.<\/p>\n<p>A group called \u201cHichimi-Kai Japanese Food Manufacturers Association\u201d made of 65 Japanese food manufactures held this event.<br \/>\nThe group was founded in 1980 with its mission of mutual understanding between members and exchanging of information to spread Japanese food in the US.<\/p>\n<p>About 45 companies participated in the event.<br \/>\nEach of them brought their newest products in alcohol, food, ingredients and cookwares, promoting them to the 1000 people in the food industry.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2022 OCJAA 2021 Senior Citizen Appreciation Day<br \/>\n\u2022 Japanese Food Fair<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":19116,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"socaljapan_category":[268],"socaljapan_tag":[],"class_list":["post-19100","socaljapan","type-socaljapan","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","socaljapan_category-2021-11_november"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan\/19100","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/socaljapan"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=19100"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan\/19100\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":19101,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan\/19100\/revisions\/19101"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/19116"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=19100"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"socaljapan_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan_category?post=19100"},{"taxonomy":"socaljapan_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/socaljapan_tag?post=19100"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
