{"id":18909,"date":"2021-08-22T20:00:14","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T03:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=18909"},"modified":"2021-08-23T23:52:07","modified_gmt":"2021-08-24T06:52:07","slug":"2021-08-22","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2021-08-22\/","title":{"rendered":"August 22nd 2021 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">August 22nd 2021 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q5ndnAJ28hw\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Dodgers Japanese Heritage Night<\/h2>\n<p>Sunday, August 8th was Japanese Heritage Night at the Dodger Stadium in LA.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers hold various cultural and social events for different communities, and the Japanese American community was introduced before this game.<\/p>\n<p>First was a taiko performance.<\/p>\n<p>Then came 2019 Nisei Queen &#038; Court and were welcomed by the audience.<\/p>\n<p>Amy Machida sang the Japanese National Anthem along with the Star Spangled Banner.<br \/>\nMr. Tokuda, a Japanese American veteran, did the first pitch and Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts born in Okinawa took the ball.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers played the Angels, and fans of Shohei Ohtani were also there enjoying the game.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>2021 Nisei Week Virtual Experience<\/h2>\n<p>Saturday, August 14th was the Nisei Week Japanese Festival.<br \/>\nThe event was called \u201cNisei Week Virtual Experience\u201d and streamed online like last year due to the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy Okubo is this year\u2019s President of the Nisei Week Foundation, and this year\u2019s theme was: \u201cIbasho, A Place to Call Home\u201d.<br \/>\nLittle Tokyo, the place where we call home, was featured.<br \/>\nLocal businesses and cultural organizations were introduced, and different awards were announced.<\/p>\n<p>Taiko, bon dance and rap music were performed live, and American karate Olympian, Sakura Kokumai performed different moves.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 Nisei Queen contest was also held. 6 candidates appeared and introduced themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Jaime Sunny Hasama, who was sponsored by Venice Japanese Community Center and Venice-West Los Angeles JACL, was crowned as this year\u2019s queen.<br \/>\nShe and the court will work as the US\/Japan goodwill ambassador until 2022.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the \u201cNisei Week Virtual Experience\u201d on the Nisei Week YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] August 22nd 2021 O.A.
