{"id":18009,"date":"2020-05-10T20:00:13","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T22:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=18009"},"modified":"2020-05-08T22:17:38","modified_gmt":"2020-05-09T06:17:38","slug":"2020-05-10","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2020-05-10\/","title":{"rendered":"May 10th 2020 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">May 10th 2020 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bt1qK_U9OMo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Spring 2020 Decorations<\/h2>\n<p>The Japanese government announced the recipient of the Spring 2020 Decorations.<\/p>\n<p>From the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Japan in LA, Brian Kito and Nancy Kyoko Oda were awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for contributing to Japan and the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy Kyoko Oda has worked hard for the San Fernando Valley Japanese American community for over 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>She actively worked as the president for the community center during the Great East Japan earthquake, and strengthen the friendly relationship<br \/>\nbetween Japan and the US.<\/p>\n<p>Oda experienced the internment camp during her childhood in WWII, so she also focuses on spreading the history to the younger generation.<br \/>\nShe was one of the advocates preserving the Tuna Canyon Detention Station where 2,000 Japanese, German, and Italian immigrants were detained.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Kito is the 3rd generation owner of Fugetsu-do, a confectionery in Little Tokyo.<br \/>\nHe has contributed to the community through volunteer work.<\/p>\n<p>For close to 30 years, Kito greatly contributed to the wellbeing and safety of Little Tokyo through the \u201cLittle Tokyo Public Safety Association\u201d and<br \/>\nlowering the crime rate.<\/p>\n<p>Kito was the chairman of the executive committee for the LA Tanabata Festival during Nisei Week.<br \/>\nHe also works on mutual understanding between the US and Japan through Japanese confection and familiarizing Japanese food culture.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] May 10th 2020 O.A.
