{"id":17379,"date":"2019-04-14T20:00:15","date_gmt":"2019-04-14T22:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/?post_type=socaljapan&#038;p=17379"},"modified":"2019-04-11T06:00:08","modified_gmt":"2019-04-11T08:00:08","slug":"2019-04-14","status":"publish","type":"socaljapan","link":"https:\/\/jhollywoodnet.com\/en\/socaljapan\/2019-04-14\/","title":{"rendered":"April 14th 2019 O.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">April 14th 2019 O.A.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x-AGDsBPOQE\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Sakura Gardens Sushi Day<\/h2>\n<p>Saturday, March 23rd was \u201cSushi Day\u201d by Japanese Restaurant Association of America for the residents of Sakura Gardens in Boyle Heights.<\/p>\n<p>JRA is a non-profit organization where their members are restaurant managers and food product companies.<\/p>\n<p>8 companies provided ingredients for this event and chefs from Japanese restaurants \u201cKatsu-Ya\u201d and \u201cSushi Gen\u201d cooperated to serve 160 people their sushi.<br \/>\n\u201cSushi Day\u201d has been held since Sakura Gardens were previously known as \u201cKeiro Retirement Home\u201d and is now the 20th year.<\/p>\n<p>Residents were served sushi on their plates they have made themselves.<br \/>\nChefs were introduced before the actual meal and Sakura Gardens awarded a letter of appreciation to JRA.<br \/>\nSakura Gardens\u2019 dining room was renovated on January of this year, and this is their first event held at the new room.<\/p>\n<p>JRA staffs, chefs and Sakura Gardens volunteers went by each table to thank and serve sushi to each residents.<\/p>\n<p>The chefs put their heart and soul into each sushi and were enjoyed by the residents.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Keiro Caregiver Conference<\/h2>\n<p>A nursing conference was held at the Pasadena Buddhist Temple on Saturday, March 30th.<br \/>\nThis event was held by Keiro that provides senior welfare service in the Japanese American community. Useful information as well as know-hows were shared to those involved in senior nursing care.<br \/>\nAbout \u00bc of Japanese Americans residing in LA, OC and Ventura County are over 65 years old. It is said that 97 percent of them are either currently needing or going to request in-home care.<br \/>\nRN, Patty Watson-Swan of Huntington Hospital Senior Care Network did a speech under the theme \u201cManaging Caregivers\u2019 Stress\u201d at the Keynote Speech.<\/p>\n<p>A seminar introducing \u201cNursing care utilizing mobile apps\u201d and<br \/>\na demonstration of active nurses sharing their know-hows were done.<br \/>\nThis conference was held by Keiro; Pasadena Buddhist Temple, whose members are aging; as well as other local Japanese American organizations.<\/p>\n<p>A resource fair where non-profit organizations and companies in the field were also held.
