Sing in Japanese

May 16th, Saturday, the preliminary round of the “Sing in Japanese! Championship Series” was held in Little Tokyo.

This is an event where Japanese language learners compete by performing songs in Japanese.
Food Access LA, which hosts the weekly Saturday Farmers Market in Little Tokyo, organized the event with support from Nippon Kashu Kyoukai USA Tomonokai.

The monthly preliminary rounds, which began in January, came to an end on this day. Those who advance will compete in the final championship in August, and the Grand Champion will be invited to the International Red and White Singing Festival, an international cultural exchange event held in Japan this November.

The contestants delivered passionate performances of their favorite songs, including original songs in Japanese.
Guests from Los Angeles and San Diego also entertained the audience with singing, dancing, and musical performances, helping make the event even more memorable.

The final round of the “Sing in Japanese! Championship Series” is set to take place in Little Tokyo on August 29.
